What is a CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator)?

A Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator designs or uses investigative tools to detect hacking attacks and provides methods to properly extract evidence to report the crime. They also conduct audits to prevent future attacks.

Forensics is the application of investigative and analytic techniques in order to identify potential legal evidence.  In computer forensics, the evidence could relate to computer crime or misuse or the potential theft of trade secrets or intellectual property.  The forensic tools employed could range from tracking the hacker through the computer system to tracing email addresses to recovering evidence of fraud.
