Q1) What is the CISM Certificate?

The CISM Certificate indicates that you have sufficient knowledge in the five areas of Information Security Management:

  • Information Security Governance

  • Incident Management and Response

Q2) Who should consider the CISM Certificate?

The CISM Certificate is designed for professionals who manage, design, and assess Information Security programs. It is common for CISAs and CISSPs to pursue the CISM Certificate to complement their credentials.

Q3) What is the CISM Certification process?

The CISM Certification process includes the following steps:

  • Successfully pass the CISM exam
  • Agree to abide by the ISACA Code of Ethics
  • Enroll in the Continuing Education program
  • Present verification of your five years of Information Security work experience
  • Submit an application for the CISM Certification

Q4) When can I sit for the certification exam?

The exam is only offered twice a year – once in June and once in December. You will need to refer to ISACA’s official website for the dates.  Candidates must register for the exam 45 days in advance.
