The ITIL® Foundation Course at Ashford Global IT

Extremely high pile of Black and white bindersThe IT Infrastructure Library® (ITIL®) is the most widely used approach to IT Service Management in the world.  ITIL helps organizations identify, plan, deliver and support IT services.  This framework has helped companies reduce costs, provide high quality services, improve customer service, and increase productivity.

The ITIL V3 Qualification Scheme consists of four levels: ITIL Foundation in IT Service Management, ITIL Intermediate Level, ITIL Expert, and ITIL Master.  ITIL Certifications are accepted across the globe; in fact, many employers require that job candidates possess at least the ITIL Foundation Certificate for certain positions.

The ITIL Foundation Certification course provides students with an introduction to the world of ITIL and IT Service Management.  Students will learn about the five stages of the Service Lifecycle – Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement – and the key processes, activities, and roles in each stage. In addition, the factors that affect how well the Service Lifecycle performs are examined. Successfully completing the ITIL Foundation Certification course and exam means that the candidate has met the prerequisite for entry into the ITIL Intermediate Level.

Ashford Global IT offers three methods of training for the ITIL Foundation course:

Traditional Classroom Education

The traditional classroom version of the ITIL Foundation at Ashford Global IT takes place in a physical classroom with face-to-face instruction.  This course lasts for 3 days.  Students will learn through lectures, discussions, and hands-on individual and team activities.  Ashford Global IT provides students with a copy of the course syllabus, classroom presentation materials, practice exam, case study, homework, and assignments. Students can enroll in open-enrollment courses that Ashford Global IT offers throughout the United States.  Moreover, if many IT professionals at your organization need to receive ITIL Foundation training, you can contact Ashford Global IT regarding their onsite training option.  The ITIL Foundation Certification exam is included with the course fee and is given during the afternoon on the last day of training.

Virtual Instructor-Led Training

Even though this course is held entirely online, the Virtual Instructor-Led ITIL V3 Foundation course simulates a traditional classroom environment as students are able to communicate and interact with their instructors and classmates in real time through the use of chat windows.  This course is scheduled over five half-day sessions which are usually conducted from 1pm – 5pm, Eastern Standard Time. Just like in the traditional classroom version, students will participate in lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities. Students in the Virtual Instructor-Led ITIL Foundation training course are issued exam vouchers for the ITIL Foundation Certification exam.  With this voucher, students can set up their own web-based exams but will need to identify a suitable proctor.

Self-Paced Learning

The Self-Paced ITIL Foundation course allows students to access the course material at their convenience for a period of 20 days.  This course offers real-life, scenario-based e-learning that is administrated by two ITIL Experts who explain the fundamentals of ITIL. Students will be able to print various components of the course including a Quick Reference Card and an exam preparation guide. The ITIL Foundation Certification exam is not included with the cost of the Self-Paced ITIL Foundation course and must be purchased separately.
