Technical Management

The function of Technical Management is to provide the technical skills and resources essential to support the ongoing operation of the IT infrastructure. This technical team assists in planning, implementing and upholding a stable and resilient infrastructure to ensure that all required resources and expertise are always in place to maintain and improve the IT services and their supporting technologies.

Technical Management plays a dual role. Firstly, it retains the technical knowledge that is required for the design, testing, operation and optimization of IT services. Secondly, it provides the resources for supporting the ITIL® Service Lifecycle phases.

Some of the activities that are carried out by the Technical Management function include:

  • Identifying the requirements and determining what kind of knowledge and expertise is needed.
  • Designing, developing, and carrying out training programs
  • Defining architecture standards.
  • Assisting in the design and creation of new services while establishing operational standards.
  • Managing contracts and vendors.
