Request Fulfillment: Another Process to Improve Companies’ Productivity

ITIL® is a framework that elaborates on IT Service Management’s standards and best practices. With this library, companies will learn to be more organized by following different processes. As a result, costs caused by errors will be reduced and the overall efficiency of workers will be maximized. To keep up with the constant changes being made in IT, the third and most recent version of ITIL has introduced a new process – Request Fulfillment.

About Request Fulfillment

Request Fulfillment is one of the processes in ITIL V3 Service Operation. It was created to be a link between the Service Desk and Change Management. Request Fulfillment is a pre-defined process that handles Service Requests (i.e., users or clients’ requests for information, Requests for Changes, or requests to access to a service). Request Fulfillment also documents the financial implications of each Service Request and points out the additional approvals needed for it.

Why Study Request Fulfillment?

Request Fulfillment is studied in the ITIL V3 Service Operation Lifecycle course and the ITIL V3 Operational Support and Analysis Capability course. In either class, you will learn the following regarding Request Fulfillment:

  • How to identify the triggers and interfaces of Request Fulfillment
  • How to recognize the types of information required for this process
  • What the different components of Request Fulfillment are
  • How to implement Request Fulfillment during a certain scenario
  • How a process can be broken down into its core components
  • The key metrics required for effectively measuring how well the Request Fulfillment process is functioning
  • The typical problems which can arise during this process
  • The factors required to ensure that Request Fulfillment is successful
  • How to assess and analyze the efficiency of Request Fulfillment for a given scenario

Benefits of Request Fulfillment

To ensure that your efforts in studying Request Fulfillment aren’t in vain, here are a few advantages to learning about Request Fulfillment:

  • Increased Efficiency – Common requests will be documented; thus, they will be handled in a more organized and uniform matter. This automated approach will speed up the delivery time of services and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Reduced Costs for Clients – Users and customers are always on the lookout for service providers who can offer them excellent services at reasonable costs. The costs of producing services will be reduced through dynamic workflow capabilities. Thus, your company won’t have to pass on these charges to your clientele.
  • Boosting the Value of IT – Because the insight and audit trails of all the elements involved in Request Fulfillment will be visible, the value of IT will increase over time.
  • Enhanced Productivity – The productivity of workers and the quality of the services will increase because workers will have better access to standard services and products.
