ITIL® V3 Foundation Course – An Overview

Large group of people with IdeasIf there is one way for an IT professional to stand out from the crowd, it is to earn an IT Certification.  One such certification is the ITIL® V3 Foundation Certificate.  ITIL is the most widely adopted approach to IT Service Management in the world.  The ITIL V3 Foundation course provides an introduction to ITIL and IT Service Management.  Students will study the key principles, concepts, and terminology in the ITIL framework.  The five stages of the Service Lifecycle (Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement) and the main processes, functions, and roles in each stage are explored.  In addition, students will learn the benefits of implementing ITIL in any organization.  The other modules in the ITIL V3 Qualification Scheme build upon the information presented in this course.

The ITIL V3 Foundation course is designed for individuals who require a basic understanding of ITIL, IT professionals who work in an organization that has adopted ITIL, and IT professionals who wish to achieve an ITIL Intermediate Level Certificate, the ITIL Expert Certificate, or the ITIL Master Qualification.

The ITIL V3 Foundation course prepares students to pass the ITIL V3 Foundation Certification exam.  This 60-minute exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions; each question will have only one answer.  To pass this exam, students must correctly answer at least 65% of the questions, or 26 out of 40 questions.  Upon passing the ITIL V3 Foundation Certification exam, students will have met the prerequisite to enroll in modules in the ITIL Intermediate Level.

It is very important that if you are preparing for the ITIL V3 Foundation Certification exam, you receive the right kind of training.  Florida-based Ashford Global IT (AGIT) provides ITIL Foundation training through three methods: the traditional classroom version, self-paced training, and virtual instructor-led training.

The traditional classroom version of the ITIL V3 Foundation course lasts for 3 days and features face-to-face instruction; the ITIL V3 Foundation Certification exam is given during the afternoon on the last day of training.  Ashford Global IT offers open-enrollment courses throughout the United States, or, if you have many students who need to be trained, you can invite one of AGIT’s skilled instructors to your company’s location to present the training onsite.

The Self-Paced ITIL V3 Foundation course allows students to study at their own pace and convenience.  Students will have access to the course material for a period of 20 days.  The ITIL Foundation Certification exam is not included with the cost of this course.

The Virtual Instructor-Led ITIL Foundation course combines features of the traditional classroom environment with the convenience of an online setting.  This course takes place over five half-day sessions, usually scheduled Monday through Friday from 1pm to 5pm Eastern Standard Time.  Everything is conducted online.  Students will be able to communicate with their instructor and classmates through chat windows.  Students in this course will receive an exam voucher for the ITIL V3 Foundation Certification exam, with which they can set up their own web-based exam.
