ITIL® RCV – What Can It Help With?

Improve Your SkillsAs IT becomes an essential part of businesses and organizations today, the importance of properly implementing IT infrastructure is undeniable. If you want your organization to stay up-to-date and competitive, you must incorporate IT Service Management (ITSM) within it. With the employment of IT best practices, IT Service Management can help you in reducing costs and enhancing the Service Lifecycle.

ITIL® is a comprehensive manual that defines these best practices, thus helping your IT infrastructure to function according to the goals and objectives of your organization. ITIL has become a de facto standard in IT organizations all over the world. ITIL training courses and ITIL Certifications can help you better understand the IT best practices and how to implement them to your advantage.

ITIL V3 Release, Control and Validation (RCV) is one of the modules covered in the Capability Stream.  The Capability Stream and the Lifecycle Stream make up the intermediate level of the ITIL V3 qualification scheme. The ITIL V3 Release, Control and Validation Certificate examines the practical aspects of ITIL practices, especially those of which are related to the Release, Control and Validation processes.

Efficient implementation and best practices ensure that the ITSM within an organization is working up to its best capabilities. This can help in reducing the cost of services and improving business processes in your organization. For a controlled and cost-effective implementation of the services, knowledge of how to handle the Release, Control and Validation processes is imperative. Without an ITIL V3 RCV training course, optimizing and enhancing your organization’s IT infrastructure is going to be a very difficult task.

After completing the ITIL Release, Control and Validation Certification course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose and objectives of the Release, Control and Validation processes.
  • Practically implement the methods and functions of Service Management.
  • Understand the roles and processes of Release, Control and Validation, along with their interaction with other processes in the Service Lifecycle.
  • Understand how functions and activities are related to each of the RCV processes.
  • Measure the performance of the Release, Control and Validation processes in your organization.
  • Implement technology to support the Release, Control and Validation processes and its activities.
  • Properly implement the Release, Control and Validation processes in order to achieve overall operational success.
  • Have an insight into the risks and critical risk factors of RCV.

To be eligible to sit for an ITIL V3 Release, Control and Validation Certification exam, you are required to have basic knowledge of ITIL terminologies, concepts, processes, and the Service Lifecycle. The ITIL V3 Foundation Certification is a prerequisite for the ITIL V3 RCV Certification examination.  However, if you already have an ITIL V2 Foundation Certification, you will need the V3 Foundation Bridge Certificate.

The ITIL V3 RCV Certification exam consists of 8 scenario-based multiple choice questions. Each question will have 4 possible answer options:  the best choice is worth 5 marks, a second best choice is worth 3 marks, a not so good choice is worth 1 mark, and one distracter achieves no marks. You will have 90 minutes to solve these complex questions, and you must obtain at least 70% of the marks in order to pass. If you’re interested in securing a passing grade at the very least, Ashford Global IT (AGIT) can be of help. With skilled instructors and vast knowledge of the topics covered in the RCV course and on the certification exam, AGIT is surely the place to be.
