3d little personOnce you’ve successfully completed the ITIL® Foundation course, you’ll be ready to enroll in modules in the ITIL V3 Intermediate Level.  There are two streams in the ITIL Intermediate Level: the Capability Stream and the Lifecycle Stream.  The Capability Stream examines detailed process implementation; the Lifecycle Stream takes a broad management approach to the Service Lifecycle.

The four modules in the Capability Stream focus on in-depth knowledge of operational-level activities and the supporting methods for implementing different processes.  Each module concentrates on a cluster grouping of processes.

  • Operational Support and Analysis addresses Event Management, Incident Management, Request Fulfillment, Problem Management, Access Management, Technical Management, IT Operations Management, Application Management, and the Service Desk.
  • Service Offerings and Agreements covers Service Portfolio Management, Service Catalog Management, Service Level Management, Demand Management, Supplier Management, and Financial Management.
  • Planning, Protection and Optimization explores Demand Management, Capacity Management, Availability Management, Information Security Management, and IT Service Continuity Management.
  • Release, Control and Validation examines Change Management, Service Asset and Configuration Management, Release and Deployment Management, Request Fulfillment, Service Validation and Testing, Service Evaluation, and Knowledge Management.

These classes combine to give you a solid understanding of ITIL V3 2011.  Each module lasts for five days and is available as a traditional classroom course as well as online through virtual instructor-led training.  Either option will provide you with the skills that are needed to truly thrive in the IT Service Management field and are well worth the investment of time and effort.
