Discovering the ITIL® V3 RCV Certification

ITIL Certification LevelsITIL® V3 is one of the training sessions managers and IT professionals may take part in to ensure that the best practices are being implemented at their companies.

However, ITIL V3 Certification is a layered process, thus the Foundation Certificate is just the beginning of many more to come.

ITIL V3 Release, Control and Validation

The ITIL V3 Release, Control and Validation (RCV) Certificate is one of the four individual certifications which are offered as part of the ITIL Capability Stream. The ITIL V3 Release, Control and Validation course focuses on a series of process activities, their execution, and how they are used throughout the Release, Control and Validation phase of the ITIL Service Lifecycle.

ITIL V3 RCV will provide a hands-on training session in the following areas:

  • Service Management as Practice
  • RCV Processes, Activities, Methods and Functions
  • Service Validation and Testing
  • Service Asset and Configuration Management
  • Knowledge Management
  • Service Request Fulfillment and Evaluation
  • Roles and Responsibilities during Release, Control and Validation
  • Service Release and Deployment Management
  • Technology and Implementation Considerations
  • Challenges, Critical Success Factors, and Risks

Target Group

The ITIL V3 RCV Certificate is designed for the following people:

  • Individuals who have the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate
  • Individuals who have the ITIL V2 Foundation Certificate and the V3 Foundation Bridge Certificate
  • Staff members who are working on enhancing the quality of their companies’ IT service support
  • IT professionals who require more information on ITIL V3
  • Operational staff who are involved in Change Management, Release and Deployment Management, Service Validation and Testing, Service Asset and Configuration Management, Request Fulfillment, Service Evaluation, and Knowledge Management Other personnel such as general IT professionals, business managers, and business process owners

Certification Exam

Before the exam, the ITIL V3 RCV Certificate candidate must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. A candidate must have had at least 30 contact hours.
  2. A candidate must hold the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management or hold both the ITIL V2 Foundation Certificate and the V3 Foundation Bridge Certificate.

Aside from those, two more criteria may go in the candidate’s favor and those are:

  1. Two to four years experience in working in an IT Service Management post.
  2. 12 hours of personal study prior to the examination.
