Complement Your ITIL Training with Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE®) Certification

Flow ChartTo become a high-level manager, you have to learn more than just how to engineer products and IT services. You also have to be able to engineer the very processes that create them.

To the uninitiated, this seems like an abstract task, but a Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE®) Certification will ensure that you have the required skills for the job. See a course description for CPDE.

Implementing Mission-Critical Oversight

As a project leader or department manager, your role is similar to that of an architect. Although you’re expected to be well-versed in all the minor processes that go into the whole, you’re also responsible for the detailed planning that ensures it all gets done correctly. This means that you need to understand how to create a plan of attack for an IT service, implement it within a structured framework, optimize it until it’s retired and assess your progress continually along the way.

The skills and theoretical knowledge you learn in a CDPE course will help you immensely in your management roles. You’ll be able to analyze problems and design solutions with a much greater understanding of the ramifications of your work. This foresight will be vital later on as you actually implement your ideas and try to improve on them.

Effective Monitoring

Most ITSM frameworks present you with a wealth of valid options. For instance, there are numerous ways to implement metrics and progress assessments for your projects, and each has its advantages and disadvantages. By knowing which metrics programs generate which kinds of information and how to automate the process, you can zero in on specifics. Of course, it’s just as important to learn how to identify the information you really need to be tracking and understand how to use it so that you don’t waste time optimizing metrics that don’t get you anywhere.

CPDE modules help you distinguish meaningful metrics from random information. They ensure that the data gathering work you do will actually serve a purpose later by teaching you to plan in greater detail from the start.

Identifying Areas for Improvement

Most of us don’t even know our workflows have problems until we see them manifest in disaster situations. You don’t have to be clairvoyant to stop this trend, but you will need to take your professional training a few steps further.

Certified Process Design Engineer Certification courses let you build on your ITIL®, Six Sigma® or ISO 9000 standards training by giving you a more in-depth handle on what it really means to design a process. By learning how to analyze consumer requests and define process components, you’ll be able to leverage your existing frameworks knowledge more efficiently and improve your overall management skills.
