Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE) Course – General Overview

IT Service Management (ITSM) is a vital aspect of nearly every business operating today.  Small and large businesses alike rely on it to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and overall output of a business.  When managed properly, ITSM can also help an organization reduce its operating costs while boosting profits.  There are a variety of different frameworks and methodologies that focus on promoting the best practices of ITSM.

These frameworks operate on different principles, but all lack specific methods and techniques for designing and improving ITSM processes.  However, by becoming a Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE), you will have the knowledge and skills to design, (re)engineer, and improve quality, lasting ITSM processes.

At its most basic level, the Certified Process Design Engineer course teaches you the skills and theories needed to analyze, design, implement, manage, monitor, and revise IT Service Management processes.  Instead of focusing on one of the main ITSM methodologies, the principles learned in a CPDE course apply to all the various frameworks used today and can be adapted to virtually any business model, environment, or situation.  The course lasts for five days and covers a lot of ground over that relatively short period of time.

Specific topics that are dealt with during the Certified Process Design Engineer course include understanding process frameworks and usages, learning process elements and models, analyzing and creating flowcharts, gathering process requirements, developing process definitions, using automation effectively, troubleshooting and improving processes, and understanding the importance of roles, responsibilities, and functions.  By the end of this course, you will have a solid understanding of the ten process design and improvement steps, improvement tools and techniques, and management principles.  In addition, you will know how to analyze customer requirements, define and document processes, manage organizational change, as well as produce and use meaningful metrics.  In short, you’ll develop a valuable skill set needed to excel in the IT industry.

As mentioned, the Certified Process Design Engineer course lasts for five days and is only available in a classroom setting due to the hands on nature of the study material.  This course is an investment in your career and your company’s future since the skills that are learned will be utilized on a daily basis and can be a critical aspect in boosting your company’s efficiency and effectiveness.
