An Overview of the Self-Paced ITIL® Foundation Course

ITIL® is considered to be the most widely used approach towards IT Service Management (ITSM) in the world. Many companies have implemented the best practices suggested by ITIL and are enjoying a number of benefits. These companies have seen a drop in expenses, improved productivity, and improved customer satisfaction levels. As a result, there are many companies on the lookout for ITIL certified individuals.

In the ITIL V3 Qualification Scheme, there are four levels: ITIL Foundation in IT Service Management, ITIL Intermediate Level, ITIL Expert, and ITIL Master. The ITIL Foundation Certificate is a prerequisite if one wishes to proceed to the advanced ITIL training levels.

The material covered in an ITIL Foundation training course is extensive and prepares learners for the ITIL V3 Foundation Certification exam. Topics include key ITIL and ITSM concepts, processes, roles, and definitions. In addition, the five stages of the Service Lifecycle are described in detail: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement. Throughout this course, participants will understand why implementing ITIL in any organization is beneficial. Students will gain an understanding of the practical skills necessary for the implementation of the ITIL best practices.

Students have several options when registering for the ITIL Foundation training course. Students can choose to attend classroom-style training, take an online course with a virtual instructor, or study on their own. A number of organizations, including Ashford Global IT, now offer a Self-Paced ITIL Foundation program. Individuals who do not have the time or cannot arrange to attend scheduled classes can take this online, self-paced class.

In the Self-Paced ITIL Foundation course, students receive scenario-based instruction. Two ITIL Experts will brief the students on the fundamental principles of ITIL and guide students through the course. During the various modules, students will be expected to participate in projects, activities, and scenarios to test their ITIL awareness and knowledge.

In the Self-Paced ITIL Foundation course, students can study at their own speed, comfort, and ability as they prepare for the certification exam. Students will be able to access the course material whenever they want, from wherever they like for a period of 20 days.

Participants should note that the Self-Paced ITIL Foundation program at Ashford Global IT does not come with the ITIL Foundation Certification exam; the exam must be purchased separately.
