An Overview of the ITIL® Foundation Training Course

Businesses and governments are always seeking methods that are proven to help deliver better customer-centric services. With the increasing importance of IT in business, companies are struggling to properly align IT service delivery with their business processes. The IT Infrastructure Library® (ITIL®) provides businesses with the framework and best practices that can help them develop top of the line IT Service Management.

The ITIL framework has a number of benefits. ITIL is a proven and practical method for the planning and delivery of IT services. This framework is grounded in actual experience rather than a theoretical approach. The nonproprietary and impartial direction provided is applicable to public and private-sector companies. The ITIL guidelines can be applied in any organization, regardless of the hardware and software used by the company. In addition, the framework is public domain. No license fees have to be paid for using it. With a global user base, new users can get peer support on a large scale. The ITIL framework provides support to a company’s quality management system. ITIL can help companies effectively align IT with their business goals in order to achieve growth. Using the approaches taught in ITL training courses can help professionals easily plan, identify, support and deliver IT services.

The ITIL Foundation course is the entry level course that provides candidates with the basics of ITIL and IT Service Management. This course offers a thorough introduction to concepts, objectives, definitions, benefits and relationships that exist within core IT Service Management processes and functions. The five stages of the Service Lifecycle (Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement) are also examined. The ITIL Foundation course helps attendees understand the importance of an IT infrastructure in any organization.

In an ITIL Foundation training course at Ashford Global IT, students will participate in lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities as well as answer practice exam questions. All of this is done to reinforce the students’ understanding of the ITIL framework. The ITIL Foundation course will fully prepare students to take and pass the ITIL Foundation Certification exam. This 60-minute exam is comprised of forty multiple choice questions. To pass the exam and be awarded the ITIL Foundation Certificate, students must correctly answer 65% of the exam, or 26 out of 40 questions. The ITIL Foundation Certificate is a prerequisite for all other ITIL qualifications.

The ITIL Foundation course should be attended by IT professionals, system and network administrators, service providers, as well as executives and managers who are in-charge of IT service delivery within any organization. It is recommended that all attendees have a working knowledge of IT service support and delivery.
