Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

Course Description:

Become an elite information security manager by taking the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) course.

The CISM course is specially designed to present participants to information security management knowledge, technical skills, and industry best practices accepted around the world, and approved by Information Security Audit and Control Association (ISACA). This CISM course will help prepare participants for the CISM exam, by thoroughly examining the core competencies that will be covered on the CISM exam:

Information Security Governance,
Information Risk Management,
Information Security Program Development,
Information Security Program Management, and
Incident Management and Response.

While information risk management is a focal point in the CISM course, the course will also delve into development of information security programs, management of incidents, and management of information security programs. The CISM course further clarifies the differing roles between IT auditing and information security. After completing the CISM course, learners will understand the universal framework for issues involving information security management.

This course meets the training requirements for DOD 8570.1.

Audience:

The CISM certification is for the individual, who manages, designs, oversees and/or assesses an enterprise's information security (IS). Participants should have one to three years of information security responsibilities. The CISM certification promotes international practices and provides executive management with assurance that those earning the designation have the required experience and knowledge to provide effective security management and consulting services.

Prerequisites for the exam:

Agree to comply with ISACA Code of Ethics
Submit an application for CISM Certification

You will need to register for the exam with ISACA. The exam is given only by ISACA and is given in ONLY June and December. Registration should be completed approximately 45 days in advance of the exam. The next exam is on December 11, 2010. Registration for this exam closes on October 6, 2010.
